18 weeks preggo

How far along? - 18 weeks
Total weight gain: - I refuse to find out....will have to wait til doctor's visit on Monday of next week.
Maternity clothes? - I love dresses and would wear them everyday if I could. I actually wore a few of my pre-pregnancy dresses this week. That is always exciting. I haven't tried any pants with the belly band...I should just for fun
Stretch marks? - No.  And, I don't have that weird linea nigra thing yet either...not sure what that means.

Sleep: Good sleep this week...probably because I was exhausted from those parent teacher conferences ; )
Best moment this week: Having a few of the parents tell me I look cute pregnant and to enjoy every moment.  One even said I am not that big. HA!
Food cravings:  sweets -  This baby needs to make up his/her mind.
Anything making you queasy or sick: a few moments of queasiness, mostly in the mornings but nothing I can't handle.
Gender: Now, I'm thinking girl...probably because my face is an absolute horror fest right now - SO BROKEN OUT I want to cry.
Symptoms: Movement all the time, acne like crazy, back pain, the usual...
Belly button in or out: we're still in
Wedding rings on or off: well, I keep forgetting to wear them so I guess off.
Looking forward to: finding out what the little bambino is....6 days from today hopefully. I just hope he/she is healthy and has all his/her parts.

Side note: I will thoroughly enjoy not having to write he/she and his/her hopefully in the near future.

Here's some pictures from the week.

17 weeks preggo

How far along? - 17 weeks
Total weight gain: - I have no idea. I got on the scale after eating a particularly large meal and actually broke into 130...PANIC. SWEAT. HOW THE H DID THAT HAPPEN?  But, then a few days later, not after a large meal the scale read 127 again.  So, I either gained 3 pounds or stayed the same.
Maternity clothes? - I live in maternity clothes and one specific pair of yoga pants. I actually have a few pairs of maternity pants that are starting to be too small...YIKES -How did that happen?
Stretch marks? - none but my belly looks weirder every day
Sleep: Much better this week...the best night by far was when our very generous friends let us actually sleep in their king size bed while we were visiting them in Cleveland...HEAVEN : )
Best moment this week: Baby Lang attended his/her second wedding and I got to thoroughly enjoy slow dancing with my husband and my baby between us ; ) I actually lasted longer than I thought I would at this wedding - made it up until 1 am. I was proud of myself but hurting the next day.
Food cravings:  No crazy ones this week.  My mother-in-law made us a delicious lasagna though.
Anything making you queasy or sick: So, I wasn't imagining it when I thought I was more susceptible to car sickness last week while riding the bus to our away soccer game. I was extremely nauseous/carsick on our trip to and from Cleveland, OH. I guess my days of long car rides might be behind us from this point on (expect for Thanksgiving...more on that later)
Gender: Boy...girl...boy...I have no clue but hopefully we will know in about two weeks.
Symptoms: no new ones - def. feeling movement this week. I love it. It feels like a little tickle in my lower belly.
Belly button in or out: in (but not for long judging by the looks of things)
Wedding rings on or off: on when I remember to wear them.
Looking forward to: finding out what this little companion of mine is...2 weeks.  NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO parent teacher conferences this week (40 meetings in 2 days sure is a lot for this preggo)

Another fun moment this week: At our friends' wedding this weekend, my good friend (who is also currently a medical resident in Bmore) got a little bit tipsy and insisted on measuring my uterus at our dinner table...was quite a spectacle...but that was the first time someone else truly touched my belly.

16 weeks preggo

How far along? - 16 weeks (I feel way more than 4 months pregnant.)

Total weight gain: - well, I thought I had gained like 5 but when I went to the OB's this week for my 16 week appointment, I had only gained 3. I'm 127 now. I was about 124 pre-pregnancy. Seriously, with the bump I am sporting...how does this add up?!
Maternity clothes? - Oh, yes. Last weekend I found a great consignment shop that had some good deals on pants (which I am in desperate need of).  I cannot really do shirts yet unless they are empire waist.  I am still trying to wear lots of dresses though. They are just so much more comfortable than any pants I own. I think I have passed the mark of using my Bella band for pants...I actually starting using it as a slip under dresses now because I no longer have one of those that works with this bump. UGH #bigbumpproblems
Stretch marks? - nope - although I bet they are on their way
Sleep: I have been waking up on my back more and more. The OB said it is not a huge deal until  3rd trimester (that was a relief).  I also have been sleeping better, especially on the night I took tylenol PM for my cold.
Best moment this week: I think it will be this weekend - my little sister is coming to visit.  It will be her first time seeing our new house and she and I are going to a huge consignment sale for baby stuff.
Food cravings:  I still want apple pie. See previous post! I also have been craving things but then I am only able to eat a few bites of them. (This is so not me! I am usually a big eater, even when I am not pregnant.)
Anything making you queasy or sick: The only thing that made me slightly queasy this week was our hour and a half bus ride (with 40 or so screaming, cackling middle school girls) to an away soccer game. I think it was the bus ride but it also might have been the thought of living with a child (or children) who think it's entertaining to scream at the top of their lungs for fun. (Have I mentioned why I want a boy lately?!) haha I am only kind of kidding here.
Gender: I think boy (based on how I am carrying and my dreams)
Symptoms: pain in my back and stomach (everything stretching out), leg cramps at night (cannot get rid of these no matter what I try), and a rockin cold (stuffy nose that switches to runny nose during day when I am teaching)- UGH! I'm enjoying pregnancy though : )
Belly button in or out: in
Wedding rings on or off: on
Looking forward to: finding out that this is (hopefully) a little boy in four weeks; my sister coming to spend time with us - I wonder if this will be her last visit before we have the little one. She lives pretty far away. (All of our family does).  It is weird to think about that.

Here's a little treat: Oskar (our dog) doesn't really know what's going on yet but when I purchased a car seat (consignment of course) earlier in the week, his reaction was pretty funny:

Cowgirl outfit - yellow dress, cowboy boots, and bump

I look kind of weird in those - My husband always catches the picture at the worst minute : )

Am I really only 4 months pregnant? I look like 7 here. EEK!

What's the Weirdest thing you ever ate

In the essence of the Food Network's "What's the Best Thing you ever ate?," I bring to you the preggers version of What's the Weirdest Thing you ever ate?

So, we'll start with the bizarre things I have thought about eating lately but haven't been able to get my hands on. (In truth they aren't that bizarre but they are things I wouldn't normally crave.)

First, my most ridiculous craving, and the only one I cannot really fulfill is for a HOT, TOASTED, MELTY, CHEESY, SPICY Italian Sub.  I never even liked lunch meat that much before getting pregnant but every time I see a commercial for the Subway Subtober Sub of the month -Spicy Italian, I cannot control myself.  I just want that salty delicious (really bad for you) salami, bologna, and pepperoni with oil and vinegar dressing.  Tell me that doesn't sound good!

Second, I have been loving cheese. (However, I liked it a whole lot pre-pregnancy too. The only difference is that I loved the cheeses I can't have now - brie, bleu, goat, unpasteurized deliciousness.) Yet, I am currently obsessed with cheesy nachos.  Yep, you heard right, tortilla chips slathered in hot, gooey, oily cheddar cheese.  Of course, I also have to have toppings.  The other day, I wanted jalapeños in the worst way....but we didn't have any. It is not something we keep on hand. So I improvised....the only thing close enough in texture/taste to this was a jar of bread and butter pickles we had in the fridge.  Pickle Nachos anyone?  I am not lying when I say they were fantastic!!

Third, I have not been able to stop thinking about apples - apple sauce, apple cider (which I cannot have!), sauteed apples in cinnamon and sugar, and of course, apple pie.  I don't know if it is the crisp fall air or if I am just losing my mind but I am hell-bent on finding a good apple pie at the Amish market this week.  (Side note - every time I have ventured into the Amish market during this pregnancy, I have had to leave because of nausea....anyone else have an aversion to a place?!) I am going to brave it though in the name of apple pie!

Last, I really want some pumpkin curry.  Again - fall, crisp air. Pumpkins, October?  Or, perhaps this baby has some really ethnic tastes already.

Here's to a weekend hopefully filled with apple pie and maybe pumpkin curry. But, don't worry, we don't have any bread and butter pickles in the house : )
